Red Lobster Adds Spiny Lobster to Menu
Summer is in full swing and that means one things - lobster! Red Lobster is excited to announce the addition of spiny lobster to its menu. This new item is available starting today.
Spiny lobster is a type of lobster that is found in the Atlantic Ocean. It has a hard shell and a sweet, delicate flavor. Red Lobster's chefs are excited to share this new delicacy with guests.
"We're always looking for new and exciting ways to delight our guests," said Ed Jackson, Executive Chef at Red Lobster. "The spiny lobster is a delicious addition to our menu."
Guests can order the spiny lobster as part of a meal or as an appetizer. The dish is served with drawn butter and either mashed potatoes or rice pilaf.
Red Lobster is offering a promotional deal on the spiny lobster. Guests who order it between now and August 17th will receive a $10 coupon towards a future visit.

Maine Fishermen Catch Record Amount of Spiny Lobster
AUGUSTA, Maine - Fishermen in Maine pulled in a record amount of spiny lobster last week.
The 1,026-pound haul was hauled in by two fishermen from Boothbay Harbor, who beat the previous state record by more than 200 pounds.
According to the Department of Marine Resources, the behemoth lobster was caught using a trap on Thursday, September 6.
"This is truly an amazing accomplishment," said Commissioner Patrick Keliher. "Maine's lobstermen are the best in the world and they continue to prove that every day."
The previous state record for a spiny lobster was 823 pounds, set in 2012.
How to Cook Spiny Lobster

Thoroughly rinse the lobster in cold water.

Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the lobster, and add 1 tablespoon of salt for each quart of water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.

Add the lobster and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until cooked through.

"There just aren't enough spiny lobsters out there to go around," one dealer said. "Everyone is after them."
